VIBE stands for "Visualization and Interaction for Business and Entertainment", and our group focuses primarily on topics in human-computer interaction (HCI) and information visualization.
Operationally, VIBE consists of three sub-groups: Computational User Experiences, Connect, and VibeDev.
Computational User Experiences (CUE)
The Computational User Experiences (CUE) group creates technologies that augment our personal and professional digital lives to enhance individual and collaborative pursuits. We apply expertise in machine learning, visualization, mobile computing, sensors and devices, and quantitative and qualitative evaluation techniques to improve the state of the art in physiological computing, healthcare, home technologies, computer-assisted creativity, and entertainment.
Visit the CUE group's Web page.
Connect
The Connect group researches and prototypes socio-technical systems that support a variety of human social interactions as well as highly distributed digital production environments. The group also explores new systems to support collaboration and utilizies novel visualization techniques to enrich collaobration. We focus on both co-located and distributed collaboration as well as real-time (e.g. instant messaging and teleconferencing) and offline (e.g. email) systems.
VibeDev
The VibeDev group works with the CUE and Connect groups to build and deploy tools and infrastructure that advance the state of the art in Human-Computer Interaction.
