Events and Conferences in Computational Science

Events that we have organised or sponsored in the last few years.

  • Computational Methods in Systems Biology (CMSB 2008)
    Rostock, Germany
    12–15 October 2008

The CMSB conference brings together modellers (computer scientists, mathematicians and physicists) and biologists interested in a systems-level understanding of cellular processes.
  • 9th International Conference on Systems Biology (ICSB 2008)
    Göteborg, Sweden
    22–28 August 2008
  • International Workshop and Conference on Network Science
    Norwich, United Kingdom
    23–27 June 2008

The conference focuses on novel directions in networks research within the biological and environmental sciences, computer and information sciences, social sciences, finance and business.
  • Formal Methods in Systems Biology
    Cambridge, United Kingdom
    4–5 June 2008

The purpose of this meeting is to bring researchers together on the application of formal methods to biology. This includes techniques for the specification, development and verification of biological models, as well as the design of tools to execute and analyze biological models.
  • Computational and Systems Biology Course at CoSBi
    Trento, Italy
    10–14 March 2008

The Microsoft Research - University of Trento Centre for Computational and Systems Biology (CoSBi) organises a course for PhD students, advanced master students and early stage postdocs on methods and recent results on different aspects of computational and systems biology. Students with both experimental and computational/mathematical background are encouraged to apply. Registered students will receive prerequisite reading materials that will help them to follow the lectures of the course no matter what background they have. All lecture material will be made available to the students after the course.
  • Biology without Borders conference
    Trento, Italy
    2–5 October 2007

As we try to increase our understanding of biology, the focus of research is shifting from parts to systems. This shift brings with itself a blending of tools, scientific fields, expertise, and people in order to properly address the new challenges that arise. Biology without Borders recognises such shift and aims to embrace it with a unique open format. Its focus will be theoretical and experimental approaches which are allowing a more complete and system level understanding of biology and which recognize the importance of evolution for achieving such understanding.
  • Computational Methods in Systems Biology (CMSB 2007)
    Edinburgh, United Kingdom
    20–21 September 2007

The CMSB conference brings together modellers (computer scientists, mathematicians and physicists) and biologists interested in a systems-level understanding of cellular processes.
  • Project Design Workshop, Ark 2010
    Cambridge, United Kingdom
    30 April–2 May 2007

Strengthening Biodiversity Science and Policy for Tropical Montane Cloud Forests.
  • Towards 2020 Science Workshop
    Venice, Italy
    30 June–1 July 2005

An international expert group that identified the challenges, opportunities and the requirements for computing to accelerate science over the next decade and beyond.
  • International Conference on Converging Sciences
    Trento, Italy
    16–17 December 2004

A conference organised by the University of Trento (Italy) and Microsoft Research. Presentations are available online.
