Women’s Graduate Scholarship Program
The Microsoft Research Graduate Women’s Scholarship is a one-year scholarship program for outstanding women graduate students and is designed to help increase the number of women pursuing a PhD. This program supports women in the second year of their graduate studies with an award of US$17,000. Currently, 24 students are in the program, which has been running for three years. Women who are interested in this scholarship must apply during first year of graduate studies.

PhD Fellowships
The Microsoft Research PhD Fellowship program for the United States and Canada is a two-year fellowship program for outstanding PhD students who are nominated by their universities. This program supports women and men in their third and fourth years of PhD graduate studies with fees, a stipend of US$28,000, and travel costs (as much as $100,000 each year). Currently, 12 students are in the program. Fellowship programs are also available for other regions.

Each year, Microsoft Research offers internship opportunities at research locations around the world. The majority of our interns are PhD students in computer science and related technical fields, but we also accept a small group of master’s or bachelor’s candidates. Internships at Microsoft Research provide students with the opportunity to apply research and theory to practice while working with well-known researchers and networking with fellow PhD students from around the world.

Post-Doctoral Research Opportunities
Microsoft Research provides a vibrant research environment with an open publications policy and with close links to top academic institutions across the United States, Europe, and Asia. Post-doc researcher positions provide an opportunity to develop your research career and to interact with some of the top minds in the research community, with the potential to have your research realized in products and services that will be used worldwide. Post-doc researchers are invited to define their own research agenda and demonstrate their ability to manage an effective program of research.

Qualifications for post-doc researchers include a strong academic record in computer science or relevant technical area. Applicants must have completed the requirements for a PhD (including thesis submission), before they join Microsoft Research. Post-doc researchers receive a competitive salary and benefits package, and are eligible for relocation expenses. Post-doc researchers are hired for a one or two year fixed term appointment.
