SEIF Brazil Workshop 2013

Location: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

rio_final.jpgThe Software Engineering Innovation Foundation (SEIF) supports academic research in software engineering technologies, tools, practices, and teaching methods. Software engineering has evolved to include design, testing, verification, and programming languages, but also underlies systems and networking, security, and privacy, devices and services, as well as natural user interface (NUI)—areas in which some of the most exciting and innovative work is being done. With the advent of new tablet devices and ever more powerful phones, the possibilities for applications of software engineering have increased considerably. Now that storage and computation in the cloud has become a reality, taking advantage of this resource in new software raises interesting challenges.

The SEIF Brazil 2013 workshop will bring together researchers in Brazil with those from Microsoft and previous SEIF awardees. The workshop’s goals are to foster a community of researchers and academics in Brazil who are interested in these topics, and to advance the state of software engineering in Brazil. We will also discuss proposal guidelines for the SEIF 2014 call, starting in October 2013.
