Natural Languages Processing

Natural Language Processing (NLP) is a foundational infrastructure for processing written text. The processing includes text analysis, understanding, translation, proofreading, and summarization. In addition, NLP is a key building block for Speech Processing especially in Language Modeling. Any work that addresses challenges related to Big Data, Statistical NLP, Semantic Analysis and Knowledge Extraction would be highly considered. Our Arabic NLP Toolkit Service (ATKS) offers a set of cloud-based APIs for multiple NLP components. It will greatly help in text processing (access for the ATL Cairo’s ATKS will be granted to relevant projects).

Image and Video Understanding

The image understanding team is interested in project proposals that are around automatic understanding of images and videos such as knowing who is in a picture, what he is doing, the location of the scene among other similar type of information. We are also interested in applications that use existing image and video understanding technologies such as searching, gaming, human computer interfacing and related areas.

Social Media Analytics

Social media analytics involves content understanding, information extraction, and knowledge extraction from social feeds. We’re interested in technologies that address processing challenges for social feeds such as data size, its noisy nature, data sampling, and related topics.

Open Ideas

Do you have an interesting idea that is not related to the pre-defined tracks?

Then the “Open Ideas” track is what you’re looking for! All you have to do is come up with an innovative idea in any domain that leverages or benefits Microsoft Technologies.
