Held July 16–18, 2006, in Redmond, Washington, the Microsoft Research Faculty Summit brought academic researchers and educators together with Microsoft researchers, product group engineers, and architects for in-depth presentations and discussions of computing challenges and research trends.

Summit Focus

Technological advancement has always been driven by the need to solve real-world problems, whether social or scientific. Today, computing research and technology continue to provide novel approaches to meeting such challenges.

The 2006 sessions focused on research and advances in areas such as security, human-computer interaction, robotics, gaming, bioinformatics, eScience, digital inclusion, software engineering, and technologies for education. Speakers included Microsoft researchers, software architects, and university faculty.
