NoReplyAll Outlook Add-In

The primary function of this add-in is to add a few buttons to the Outlook ribbon to prevent people from replying to all the recipients of your message or forwarding it, etc. The add-in uses a facility built into Outlook and Exchange that is more lightweight than information-rights management but is not exposed in the existing UI. The add-in also includes a check for common email errors, such as omitting attachments or subject lines.

Works with Outlook 2007, 2010 and 2013. Visit the project description page for full details about the tool.

Please note that at the moment it works only with 32 bit Outlook (whether on 32 or 64 bit versions of Windows) - see the answer to this forum posting for a registry editing suggestion to get 64 bit Outlook to show the add-in. Built in operation with 64 bit Outlook is currently under investigation.

IMPORTANT: major change since 2.x versions - the add-in is now packaged as a single installer executable instead of a Zip file containing ClickOnce components. This simplifies end user installation a bit, and provides support to those people who do want a standalone installer (silent installs are also possible if you specify the /quiet command line option when running the executable). If you have a previous version of the add-in, it is essential that you uninstall that (via Programs & Features, or Add/Remove Programs on Windows XP) before installing this version.

Installation instructions

First of all, to reiterate the above: if you have a version earlier then 3.0, please uninstall it before you go any further.

The download requires the .NET framework to be installed on the target PC, and the VSTO runtime if you're using Outlook 2007. If one or other is missing, the installer will pop up an error message; install the appropriate package and then try again. (I'd like to give you an installer which will grab those automatically but, for various reasons, that's not possible at the moment.) You can find the install packages for both at:

To summarise: remove old versions then try running the downloaded MSI file - if it fails, note what package the error message indicates is missing, then download and install that from one of the links above, and try the MSI file again.

Change history summary

3.0.0 (yes, this web page says 3.0.1, but the download version is definitely 3.0.0): fix for setting changes not being noticed in Outlook 2007, converted to MSI installer instead of ClickOnce, migrated to .NET 4.0.

2.6.1: added Outlook 2013 support and improved control for meeting invitations.

2.5.0: added ability to specify no-forward for meeting invitations.

2.4.2: fix for HTML embedded image mis-recognition.

2.4.1: bug fix for error messages appearing on the Today page.

2.4.0: replaced the dropdown button with separate buttons again because people reported it as too confusing; fixed a problem whereby emails would be stuck in the outbox if you happened to be viewing the outbox when you sent them.

2.3.3: improved buttons; ability to re-enable (and disable) functions on receipt; improved missing attachment detection.

2.1.0: added (optional) no-reply button; improved missing attachment detector (shouldn't be fooled by HTML stationery now).

2.0.1: the buttons now work for non-English installations of Outlook; allow new messages to default to reply-all off; ignore embedded images when checking for attachments.

2.0.0: first public release
