Chinese Mainland Campus Tour

The Microsoft Campus Tour aims to show the latest Microsoft Research Asia technologies to faculty members and students and explore opportunities with the universities in research collaboration, academic exchange, and talent fostering.

Every year, a group of Microsoft Research Asia researchers led by Microsoft Research Asia executives visit a number of top universities in the Asia-Pacific region. Researchers and executives deliver lectures on topics that may include research, talent fostering, or applied technologies. Over the past 10 years, more than 200,000 students attended the lectures.

2009 Microsoft Spring Campus Tour

Chinese Mainland Campus Tour: SpeechFrom March through May, teams of researchers and Microsoft Research Asia University Relations group members, led by the Microsoft Research Asia Leadership team, completed visits to more than 30 universities across the Asia-Pacific region, including the Chinese mainland, Taiwan, and Korea.

During the visits on the Chinese mainland, more than 10,000 faculty members and students participated in the campus activities. Microsoft Research Asia Managing Director Hsiao-Wuen Hon’s visit to Korea and Taiwan generated significant press coverage, including seven major articles.

Chinese Mainland Campus Tour

The Chinese mainland campus tour involved 24 universities and more than 10,000 students from Peking University, Tsinghua University, Zhe Jiang University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, University of Science and Technology of China, and others. During the visits, the team conducted internship program activities and fellowship award ceremonies. The visits aim to promote collaboration between Microsoft Research Asia and Chinese academia.

Taiwan Campus Tour

In late April, Microsoft Research Asia Managing Director Hsiao-Wuen Hon visited National Taiwan University, National Chiao Tung University, and National Tsing Hua University, and delivered a well-received speech about Microsoft Research Asia and computing trends, as well as future research directions. More than 800 students and faculty members attended the talks. Hsiao-Wuen Hon expressed his desire to expand collaboration between Microsoft Research Asia and universities in Taiwan.

Korea Campus Tour

On May 7, Hsiao-Wuen Hon visited Korea University and Yonsei University. He met the Presidents and Vice Presidents of the two universities, and gave a distinguished talk to celebrate Microsoft Research Asia's tenth anniversary and the Yonsei University Computer Science Department’s twenty-fifth anniversary. More than 400 faculty members and students participated. Hon also discussed further collaboration opportunities between Microsoft Research Asia and Korean universities.
