Communication and Collaboration Systems

Overview

The mission of the Communication and Collaboration Systems (CCS) research group is to advance the state-of-the-art in the areas of communication and collaboration systems.  The CCS group achieves its mission by conducting work in the following two overlapping areas:

Communication Systems: information coding and communication of media signals and computer data over packet networks, in various forms, including real-time communication of voice and video, streaming media on demand, live broadcast of media and game data, file sharing and reliable content distribution, and data gathering from distributed information sources, all over existing, emerging, and novel network configurations.

Multimedia Collaboration: technologies and applications for enabling people to reach each other easily, even when separated by space and/or time, including systems for audio and video conferencing; application and data sharing; meeting and lecture recording; and so forth, in both real time and asynchronous scenarios, as well as person-to-person, person-to-group, and group-to-group settings.
