An Optimist’s Tour of the Future: One Curious Man Sets Out to Answer “What’s Next?”

The world is changing at an astonishing pace yet few of us take the time to imagine the transformations that lie ahead or the impact they will have on society or day-to-day life. In a world tour of “geniuses” found in ivy covered halls, coffee shops, Australian sheep farms and underwater labs–we can see what is ahead of us and consider the implications along the way.

Some of the experts considering “what’s next”:

  • George Church, Professor of Genetics, Harvard
  • MIT’s roboticist Cynthia Breazeal who is attempting to build an autonomous social robot
  • Hod Lipson of Cornell who seeks to make those robots think
  • Klaus Lackner, a german physicist who has created machines that take CO2 directly out of the atmosphere

This is a world tour of ideas that will directly impact our lives and an argument that technology, if we handle it right, can help us re-discover our humanity rather than separate us from it.
