Overview of Microsoft External Research

In this talk, Dr. Daron Green, senior director of Microsoft External Research talks about his experience, his role in the organization, and some of the changes in the organization over the last year. He provides his perspective of what Microsoft External Research has accomplished, its current status, and future goals.

Microsoft External Research is a division of Microsoft Research. It focuses on worldwide collaboration projects with educational, governmental, and commercial institutions to help researchers in their work to solve the most urgent challenges in medicine, environmental science, engineering, education, and many other fields.

Editor’s note: Dr. Green is now general manager of the group that was formerly called Microsoft External Research. Now called Microsoft Research Connections, the group’s commitment to worldwide collaboration projects remains strong. (March 2011)
