The PC- aided Enterprise and Re-cycling ICT: An ICT for D Story?

This paper focuses on three goals: first, to investigate organic ICT (information and communication technologies) immersions from a study of PC-aided Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) in a low-income slum neighborhood in Mumbai; second, to articulate anew and evolving socio-technical system in a slum ecology; third, to seek a fit between the goals of ICT for Development (ICTD) and the impacts of PC-aided enterprise on ICT access and adoption. Our findings are also three fold: first, ICT-aided MSEs are self-sustaining; second, they promote self- skill building; third, they re-cycle technology for greater affordability and effective immersion.
