Baining Guo is an assistant managing director with Microsoft Research Asia, where he serves as head of the graphics research lab. Before joining Microsoft Corp., Guo was a senior staff researcher with the Microcomputer Research Labs of Intel Corporation, located in Santa Clara, Calif. Guo also held faculty positions at the University of Colorado, the University of Toronto, Ecole Nationale Superieure des Telecommunications in Paris, and York University in Toronto.

Guo has published extensively in the modeling and rendering areas of computer graphics and visualization, focusing on topics such as texture and appearance modeling, real-time rendering, and geometric modeling. He is currently an associate editor in chief of IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics. He has served as a member of international program committees of several graphics conferences, including ACM SIGGRAPH, IEEE Visualization, Eurographics Symposium on Rendering, Pacific Conference on Computer Graphics and Applications, ACM Symposium on Virtual Reality Software and Technology, and ACM Symposium on Solid and Physical Modeling. Guo holds more than 40 granted and pending U.S. patents.

Guo obtained a bachelor of science degree from Peking University, and master of science and doctorate degrees from Cornell University.
