Making Spammers Pay: Microsoft Researchers drew inspiration from the Penny Black stamp to develop a way to foil spammers. Their plan asks computers to perform a computation to produce a binary ‘stamp’ before sending e-mail, forcing the sending computer to pay for each mail with extra computing time.
