AutoAlbum, a project by John Platt, makes it easy to organize and store digital photos automatically. The Data Management, Mining and Exploration Group, in collaboration with the SQL Serverâ„¢ team, developed the data-mining extension to OLE-DB and the scalable classification and clustering algorithms that are part of SQL Server 2000 Analysis server.

Tony HoareResearchers develop business-intelligence software that enables Internet sites to improve analysis, targeting, and retention of customers in Commerce Server 2000.

Tony Hoare, Microsoft Research principal researcher who invented Hoare Logic in the 1960s and won the A.M. Turing Award in 1980, receives the prestigious Kyoto Prize for his pioneering and fundamental work in computer science.
