The Graphics group produced Chicken Crossing, a 3-D, animated short film
featured as part of SIGGRAPH’s Electronic Theater, a compilation of
the graphics industry’s breakthrough work for the year. The film showcased
new 3-D graphics and multimedia hardware architecture.
Surajit Chaudhuri, who later became the manager of the Data Management,
Exploration and Mining group, was hired. He was a significant contributor to
Microsoft® SQL Server™ through his work with self-tuning databases.
