Microsoft Research Silicon ValleyLocated in Mountain View, California, Microsoft Research Silicon Valley was founded in August 2001 and now employs about 45 researchers. Our research work focuses on Distributed Computing and includes privacy, security, protocols, fault-tolerance, large-scale systems, the Web, concurrency, computer architecture, and related theory.

Roy LevinOur primary goal is to advance the state of the art in distributed systems and related fields, while strengthening the architecture and technology of Microsoft’s products. Our lab emphasizes technical excellence, technical breadth and flexibility, commitment to impact, and collegial interaction among researchers. Our research projects explore and prototype technologies likely to be strategic to the company in the two to five year time frame.
