Microsoft Research India in Bangalore is Microsoft Corporation’s third
international laboratory. The lab was inaugurated in January, 2005 to pursue
research in computer science, information technology, and the social relevance
of these technologies.
India’s international reputation for excellence in computer science research
and engineering schools made it a natural choice for the newest Microsoft
Research facility, according to Rick Rashid, the senior vice president of
Microsoft Research.
Travel to Bangalore
We will reimburse you for costs of travel to and from Bangalore.
Accommodations and Food
We’ll set you up in fully subsidized housing furnished with all the
necessities. Microsoft will pay for basic electricity, water, laundry,
housecleaning, travel to-and-from work, and food.
Fun
At Microsoft Research, we work hard and play hard! Work itself is usually fun,
but we also have “extracurricular” activities throughout the year, from movie
nights to bowling, from dancing to field trips. Bangalore has wonderful weather
all year round, which makes it perfect for activities
throughout the year. We count on our interns to keep these
activities lively!
Free Beverages at Work
This is a Microsoft tradition from its first years. Unlimited sugar and
caffeine.
Free Clothing
We make you wear a uniform so everyone knows you’re an intern. Just kidding!
But, we do give out free T-shirts.
Intern Orientation and Mentoring
During the first week, we’ll orient you to your job and to Microsoft in
general. You’ll be teamed up with a full-time mentor from your group who will
show you the ropes, give you advice, and help you get the most out of your
internship.
Stipend
Of course, you will be paid, but we don’t release figures here on the website.
Stipends compare favorably with other internships in the industry.
