Are there any tax implications for me if I receive this fellowship?
The tax implications for your stipend, fees, and tuition are based on the policy at your University. However, you will be responsible for taxes incurred for the value of your Tablet PC and Microsoft software. A 1099 form stating the value of your Tablet PC for tax purposes will be sent to you in time for you to file your income taxes if necessary.

Will intellectual property be an issue if I am awarded a fellowship?
Microsoft’s Fellowship program is not subject to any intellectual property (IP) restrictions unless and until the Fellowship recipient accepts the associated internship. At that time, you would be required to sign an employee agreement covering IP worked on during your internship.

Can I simultaneously receive fellowships from other companies?
If you accept a Microsoft Fellowship, you may not receive another fellowship from another company for the same academic period. Fellows accepting multiple fellowships will become ineligible to receive continued funding from Microsoft Research.
