Microsoft will award two-year Fellowships to outstanding Ph.D. students.
Applications will be accepted through university contacts only. Please contact
the Chair of your computer science, electrical engineering, or math department
to apply.
Provisions
of the Award
- The fellowship recipient award will cover 100% of the tuition and fees.
- A stipend is provided to cover living expenses while in school ($10,000 per year).
- A conference and travel allowance is provided for recipients to attend
professional conferences or seminars ($2,000 per year).
- All recipients will have the opportunity to complete a salaried 12-week internship during each year of their fellowship at Microsoft Research in Redmond, Washington.
- Each recipient will receive a Tablet PC purchased through Microsoft in the country where they are completing their degree.
- Fellowships are awarded to recipients for two academic years only and not available for extension.
Eligibility
Criteria
- Preference will be given to students completing their second or third year in a
Ph.D. program.
- Study in Computer Science, Computer
Engineering, and Electrical Engineering departments (if your department is within the scope of these areas, but is titled differently, you are eligible).
- Maximum of three applicants per university.
- Applications will be accepted only if
nominated by university department chairs or their designees.
- The scholarship awards will be made through the university and are not
transferable to another academic institution.
Required Application Information
- Nominees must complete an
application form by
26 September 2007.
- The application must include a curriculum vita or resume (in Word
document, text file, or PDF format) and a thesis proposal. The documents may be uploaded separately
by using the online application.
- Our online application will request email
addresses for two letters of recommendation. The application tool will solicit these letters automatically
- Applications must be submitted in English only.
- Application dates are 29 August 2007
through 26 September 2007.
- Incomplete applications cannot be considered and notification of incompleteness will not be made. Please make sure applications are complete.
