Latest Bug Fixes & Updates!

Currently, you must re-install InkSeine to get these updates. Our auto-update server is not yet online.

You must uninstall InkSeine before installing a new version; this will not cause you to lose any of your custom InkSeine settings.

  • Feb 25, 2008: Localization fixes!
o   Fix for number formatting problem that causes loading saved files,
Copy/Paste, and Undo/Redo to all fail for some users outside the US.
(If this bug affected you, unfortunately this fix does not let you load files
that were saved with the bug, but new files you create will be readable.)
o   Fix for unexpected date format causing the Tutorial to not load.
o   Fix for "The requested recognizer is not available with the current setup
               or configuration"
error dialog appearing. InkSeine should no
longer require any multi-lingual recognizer packs to be installed.
o   Installer correctly creates file association for .iks files (InkSeine notes).
o   Additional file extensions added to notes filter (OneNote icon in search
panel), including .onecache, Geometer's Sketchpad (.GSP), Jackson
GradeQuick (.GBK), Google Sketchup (.SKP), and SMART Technologies
               slide collections (.XBK).
o   .TXT file extension removed from the PDF filter. This was causing confusion.
o   Icons dragged out from search results now drop where you lift the pen.
o   Option to skip auto-update checking added to the installer.
o   Checkbox for auto-update feature added to the Options panel.

  • What is New in this Release?

There's lots of great new stuff in InkSeine!

Improved Handwriting Recognition & Correction! InkSeine now uses the standard Tablet Input Panel (TIP) for handwriting recognition and correction. Just tap on the text entry area for your query and then use the floating TIP icon to edit or extend the search terms. Note: InkSeine strips all non-alphanumeric characters from the string, so "quoted searches" or searches for terms like "C#" are not possible.         Tap in the text entry area and use the TIP icon to edit your queries.

Titles for files & hyperlinks: Files or links that you drag into your notes now show the title/file name by default. (Use Hide Title to remove the title if you don't want it.)
Titles for file icons. Use Hide Title to remove them, if desired.

Tool Ring & Snapshot capture improvements:
          * InkSeine's tool ring (a.k.a. the "crazy arrow") now comes up by default when you
start InkSeine. Use it to scroll or capture snapshots from any application.          Floating tool ring for clipping and scrolling       * Image captures automatically place the capture on the system clipboard.
          * Captured bitmaps (or ones you drag in from a Windows Explorer folder) receive
drop-shadows by default. (Select it and use Hide Shadow to turn it off).          Drop shadows. Use Hide Shadow if you want to remove one of them.
          * Captures now paste themselves near the left margin of InkSeine, just below the
last strokes on a page (if there is enough room).
          * The tool ring now correctly interoperates with multiple InkSeine instances.

Automatic hyperlinks: When you use the tool ring to capture screen clippings from Office applications (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, & emails in Outlook), or from web pages (viewed in Internet Explorer), the capture automatically gets a hyperlink attached to it. Use the link to quickly re-access the document! InkSeine cannot create links for captures from OneNote, PDF files, or web pages viewed in Firefox.       Example hyperlinks for image captures from various Office applications.

Page enhancements: The page control (bottom center of the screen) now features a page menu with Cut Page, Copy Page, Insert a New Page after the current page, and Paste (a page, or other content).
The pages of your note and a menu for working with pages appear at the bottom of the screen.

Use the new trash can control to delete the current page - or drag a page to it!
Tap the trash can to delete the current page.

Hover over any page to get a preview of it.               Hover over any page to get a preview of it.

Use Page Setup... to choose a different paper style - apply it to just the current
page, or your whole note.               Pick your paper!

Ink Cut & Paste: Copy ink between InkSeine and OneNote. Also works with Windows Journal and other applications that support ink.
Ink copied from InkSeine into OneNote.

Radial menus enhancements: Updated radial menus with improved graphical cues, cross fade, and quick riffling action on hover.

Radial menus use directional strokes to do things.

Options: InkSeine now supports several options to let you customize the InkSeine user interface to your device and the way you work. (Click here for more information about the options).         InkSeine's Options panel lets you customize things.

UMPC devices: Support for UMPC device resolutions (800x480 or 480x800) and fixes to UMPC hover so the menus won't get stuck "on" if the cursor remains on them after you lift the pen. Note: Some of InkSeine's animations do not look good on the UMPC. We hope to have a fix for this soon.

New File Type Filters: The Personal Search panel now has options for filtering by Media (images, videos, or music), Code files, and Folders/Archives/Applications.
New file type filters make it easier to find pictures, code, and folders/applications.

Drag images into your notes, from search results or file folders.
Dragging images out of the search results

Search Improvements: Problems with excluding by date or by email have been fixed. The hit counts now account for attachment result types correctly as well.

System clipboard support: InkSeine's Cut, Copy, and Paste now interoperate with the system clipboard correctly. Captures made with the tool ring camera button are now placed on the system clipboard.

Improved scrolling response, particularly for web pages, with the tool ring's circle-to-scroll gesture.

Reorganized menus and simplified selection model. We've shuffled the menus to make them more consistent, added some smarter options depending on what is selected, and improved the logic for placing the context (green plus) menu so it won't fly off the screen. Also the complete-your-lasso-to-create-a-search interaction of earlier versions has been deprecated to an option, based on feedback that this was error prone. By default, the search command opens a personal search, but you can change this using the Options Panel.

Indexing under Vista now works! InkSeine (.iks) files are now automatically indexed under Vista. Here's how to make sure Vista is indexing all your stuff.

Pretty colors: Updated graphic design & improved animation feedback for most of the tap-activated functions.

New Tutorial! Updated, new content, and now has room to play around with things on the pages.

Printing & Send to OneNote: Cleaned up several issues with printing via Send to OneNote print driver. Lines and page color are now faithfully reproduced in print-outs. It is also now possible to print individual pages or ranges of pages from the Print dialog.

Drag the Arc: The "tool arc" in the upper right corner is now draggable to the other corners, and the setting persists so that it will be in the same place when you next fire up InkSeine.

Auto Recovery Nag fixed: Running multiple instances of InkSeine no longer results in a nag dialog about auto-recovery files.

Exit Save Dialog: Fixed to be consistent with Office 2007.

Auto-update: InkSeine has an automatic update feature. The server that will host updates may not be available until a few weeks after our initial release, however. Once the update server is online, you can easily pick up bug fixes and updates as they become available. In order to get updates, you must be connected to the internet when you start InkSeine, while you leave InkSeine running for a few minutes, and when you exit InkSeine. If a new update is available, InkSeine will ask you if you want to update when you exit the application. All updates are optional; you may skip them if desired.
